A key step towards oral health: A practical guide to choosing the right toothpaste
Dental experts emphasize that choosing the right toothpaste is not just a daily habit, but a fundamental step in maintaining oral health and preventing diseases.
Studies indicate that toothpastes containing fluoride strengthen teeth and make them more resistant to acids produced by bacteria, which significantly reduces the risk of decay.

Some toothpastes contain antibacterial ingredients that help prevent gum inflammation and bleeding, and maintain the health of the tissues surrounding the teeth.
As for those who suffer from tooth sensitivity, there are special toothpastes that reduce the feeling of pain when consuming hot or cold drinks or foods, and antibacterial compounds and natural flavorings help to maintain fresh breath for a longer period.
How do we choose the right toothpaste?
Experts point out that choosing the right toothpaste should include children and the elderly , as well as people who suffer from problems such as excessive whitening or tartar buildup, as each case requires a specific formula to ensure the best results and maintain the health of teeth and gums in the long term.
Dentist Sonia Al-Ramahi said that choosing the right toothpaste is not just a daily routine, but represents an important step to maintain oral health and prevent cavities and gum disease.
In an interview with the “Your Health” program on “Al-Araby 2”, Al-Ramahi pointed out that the toothpaste prescription in the clinic is based on each patient’s condition, stressing that each case requires a special formula to ensure the best results.
She added that patients suffering from gum inflammation need a toothpaste containing chlorhexidine for a specific period to treat the inflammation, while she explained that toothpastes containing potassium nitrite help patients with hypersensitive teeth to reduce the sensation of pain when consuming hot and cold drinks or foods.
She stressed the importance of daily toothpaste containing a specific concentration of fluoride to protect teeth from decay, emphasizing the need to consider a lower concentration for children to avoid tooth fluorosis during the formation stage.
Dr. Al-Ramahi explained that choosing the right toothpaste for each case greatly contributes to promoting the health of teeth and gums, and reducing sensitivity and decay problems, noting that daily dental care begins with choosing a toothpaste that accurately meets the needs of each individual.
