
From leaves to roots… How does celery promote health and what are its contraindications?
Understanding how the urinary tract and reproductive organs work may be somewhat mysterious, but one thing is for sure: when these organs do not work as they should, it can be painful, uncomfortable, and even very disturbing.
1- Dehydration:
Drinking water helps regulate body temperature, think clearly, and maintain smooth joint function. Also, getting enough water prevents the formation of kidney stones, which form when minerals and salts do not dissolve properly in the kidneys.
When kidney stones move from the kidney to the ureter (the tube connecting the kidneys and bladder), they either pass out of the body with the urine or become lodged in the ureter, both of which are extremely painful.
Approximately one in 10 people will develop kidney stones at some point in their lives, so drinking at least 12 cups (or 3 liters) of water a day can prevent stone formation. It is also advisable to avoid adding salt as much as possible and to add citrus fruits (lemon, lime, or orange) to drinking water, as citric acid helps prevent stone formation.
Drinking extra water daily protects women from bladder infections. Drinking an additional 1.5 liters of water daily makes women less susceptible to bladder infections, which are among the most common diseases affecting women, according to a recent American study. (November 19, 2018)
2- Holding urine.
This happens to everyone, especially when the urge to urinate comes on suddenly, and there is no bathroom nearby.
While occasionally holding your urine is not a real problem, if it becomes a habit it can increase the risk of infection, especially for pregnant women or men with an enlarged prostate or a kidney disorder.
Not only that, but people who frequently hold their urine may lose bladder function later in life.
3- Constipation.
Constipation is always an unpleasant feeling, but prolonged constipation can also cause the following:
Inability to completely empty the bladder.
Increased risk of urinary tract infections.
Overactive bladder.
Difficulty urinating.
To avoid or relieve constipation, it is recommended to engage in regular physical activity and eat more fruits, vegetables, and fiber supplements.
The goal is to have a bowel movement once a day, and that it should be easy . You can add a fiber supplement to the water daily, adjusting the amount as needed to achieve this goal.
4- Do not ignore the presence of blood in the urine.
There are many reasons – besides the menstrual cycle – that may lead to the appearance of blood in the urine, which is also known as hematuria.
While some of these causes can be easily treated, others may require more serious and immediate action.
The presence of blood in the urine is the first sign of bladder cancer, so never ignore it, and take the initiative to visit a urologist to make sure you are healthy.
Blood in urine may change color to pink or brown, and you should seek medical attention even if you notice blood only once, as this could be a sign of:
Prostate enlargement.
Kidney stones.
Urinary tract infection.
