Foods that increase the chances of death for cancer patients by 60 percent… What are they?
Research suggests that cancer patients who eat a lot of “ultra-processed” foods may be nearly 60 percent more likely to die from their disease.
Researchers in Italy found that those who ate the most of these foods were more likely to die than those who ate less.
The new study was published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research .
The researchers followed 24,325 people from 2005 to 2022, who were 35 years of age or older at the start of the study, and who lived in the Molise region of southern Italy .
Processed foods have been linked to numerous health problems, including an increased risk of obesity, heart disease , cancer, and premature death.
Examples of ultra-processed foods include ice cream, processed meats , potato chips, some breakfast cereals and biscuits, many ready meals, and soft drinks.
Ultra-processed foods often contain high levels of saturated fat, salt, sugar, and additives, which experts say leaves less room in the diet for eating healthy, nutritious foods.
